Seminar: Object-Process Methodology – A Human-Centered Conceptual Modeling Paradigm and Its Applications
Guest Speaker: Professor Dov Dori
Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management, Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Seminar Title: Object-Process Methodology – A Human-Centered Conceptual Modeling Paradigm and Its Applications
Object-Process Methodology (OPM) is a holistic systems modeling language and approach that caters to three cognitive assumptions: Dual channel processing, limited capacity and active engagement. Using a compact ontology of useful objects and processes that transform them, OPM is a bi-modal using concurrently intuitive yet formal graphical notation that translates on the fly to a subset of natural English. Recognized as an INCOSE Systems Engineering methodology, OPM is in the process of becoming ISO standard. Its applications range from designing complex avionics systems to research in molecular biology. The talk will introduce and demonstrate the basic principles of OPM and discuss its applications.
